Cape Peninsula & Cape Point

A quiet cove where fishing boats have launched for generations, and at Boulders Beach, one of the world's few land-accessible African penguin colonies — thousands of birds that have made themselves entirely at home among the holiday houses of Simon's Town since the 1980s. Wooden boardwalks bring you close enough to watch them at eye level, without disturbing a single nest. At the Cape of Good Hope, you stand where early sailors long believed the Atlantic and Indian Oceans collide.

Table Mountain & the City Bowl

Table Mountain is estimated at around 260 million years old — older than the Atlantic Ocean itself. The cloud that spills over its summit on a south-easterly wind has its own name: the "tablecloth." Below it, the city tells a more complicated story of trade, resistance, and reinvention — one we walk you through at a pace that leaves room for a proper conversation, not just a photograph.

The V&A Waterfront

Named for Queen Victoria and her son Alfred, who laid the breakwater's foundation stone in 1860, the Waterfront remains one of the few harbours where a working fishing fleet still docks metres from private moorings — a contrast that tells you something honest about Cape Town itself.

Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden

Established in 1913 on Table Mountain's eastern slopes, Kirstenbosch protects the Cape Floral Kingdom — the smallest of the world's six plant kingdoms, and one of the richest. The Boomslang canopy walkway offers a view over the garden few photographs do justice.

The Cape Winelands

Stellenbosch, Franschhoek, and the valleys around them hold some of the best-preserved 18th-century architecture in the Southern Hemisphere. Franschhoek takes its name from the French Huguenots who settled the valley in the 1680s, fleeing persecution in Europe — their surnames still stitched through the region today. Oak-lined avenues, mountain passes turning gold in autumn, and small towns where the pace of life hasn't much changed.

Hermanus & the Whale Coast

Each year between June and December, Southern Right whales move into the bay to calve, often within a few hundred metres of the cliffs — reliable enough that Hermanus appointed an official "whale crier," a role that still exists today.

The Garden Route

Oudtshoorn, in the semi-arid Klein Karoo, built its fortune on ostrich feathers in the late 1800s — its "feather palaces" still stand beside the limestone cathedrals of the Cango Caves. George, at the foot of the Outeniqua Mountains, is the region's gateway. Knysna sits around a tidal lagoon guarded by two sandstone cliffs, the Knysna Heads. Plettenberg Bay offers some of the finest beaches on the coast. And the Tsitsikamma Forest holds ancient yellowwoods, some over 800 years old.

For guests with time to linger, we also route through Route 62 — the longest wine route in the world, through the Klein Karoo's mountain passes — and the Western Cape's hot springs route, natural mineral springs tucked into the mountains.

The Cederberg Mountains

Each spring, typically August through September, the West Coast and Namaqualand erupt into carpets of wildflowers. We track the season closely so a journey lands exactly when the display is at its best.
